7/8 Month Stats

Hey, wait a second! How the heck did I end up with almost 8 month olds already??? Well, here we are. The girls are getting bigger and bigger everyday. They have FINALLY started rolling over and now have decided to start sitting up too! Yaay! We have been trying new foods every 3-5 days and so far so good. The only one that no one seems to care for is chicken. Kayla cried her eyes out after 3 bites and refused to even drink her bottle the first time I gave it to her. I guess she was afraid it was chicken flavored. I calmed her down and got her to drink it. Rebecca is ok with the chicken but it is definately not her favorite. We also tried Beef and that one was a hit. Kayla and Rebecca both loved it. Go figure! LOL. We are officially done introducing the stage one foods. We will be starting stage 2 pretty soon. They love to eat! We have also started weaning Kayla off of her special formula and onto regular formula. Woohoo! That will save us a boat-load of money!! That special stuff was like $30 a can when the regular stuff is like $20 a can (or cheaper). She seems to be tolerating the protein pretty well. Her special formula had pre-digested proteins in it so I was worried that if we went from special formula to whole milk at age 1 that it would be a shock to her system. The GI doc gave us the green light to slowly switch her to regular formula so that the switch to whole milk wouldn't be such a shock to her.

They went to their physical therapy evals a few weeks ago and did great!! They are on target for a 5 and 6 month old. They were even doing things a 7 month old should do. The main issue was the rolling over. They are just starting to do that. So, hopefully they won't need much PT after all. They went to their first PT appt this past week also and did very well. The therapist worked with both of them on strengthening their core abdominal muscles. This will help them with everything from sitting up to crawling in the near future. The therapist was also happy with how well they were doing with tolerating tummy time. When I first started doing tummy time they absolutely hated it and Kayla would vomit thanks to her Reflux. Now they can handle almost 30 minutes on their tummies!! Woohoo. They also want to crawl soooo badly! Kayla gets so frustrated b/c she tries to crawl but she just does not have the strength or coordination yet. It's cute but kinda sad at the same time. LOL.

What else? Oh yeah. They are starting to "talk" now. Rebecca looks at my mom and Ross's mom and says "Goo Goo" and loves to say "Ah-goo ah-goo" Kayla growls. hehe. I really have to get that on video. It is hilarious when she looks at you and says "Gaaaaaa" LOL That's my girl! They haven't said Mama or Dada yet. Although when they cry it kinda sounds like they say "Maaaaaaa" but I could just be hearing things.. I have been working with them to get them to call me Mommy. We will see how that works.. Like I said so far nothing yet.

They start Daycare on August 24th. We have decided that they will be starting when Ross goes back to school. I am going back to work and I figure it's time for them to start to socialize with other kids besides their sibling. I think they will like it. They love being the center of attention and the daycare center is located in the school that Ross teaches in so he can be there in 5 seconds if he had to. Also, they said he could drop in whenever he wanted. I feel better knowing that one of us is right there just in case. =) The school has a child care program for the high school students. Only seniors who are in Level 4 will be able to interact with the kids. So, Kayla and Rebecca will have HS students who are willing to play with them all day long! They will love that! hehe. The lady who runs the program is really nice and really made me feel comfortable about the HS students being there b/c at first I was weary of the babies being exposed to HS students (germs and such). But, she is a stickler for hygiene and runs a pretty tight ship. So, it'll be fun. I will miss them like crazy but I will only be working like 3 days a week and will see them at night after work.

Well, that is all for now. Hope everyone is having a great weekend.
